Alejandro Schwarz Bio

Argentinean guitarist and composer, trained at the Escuela de Musica Popular de Avellaneda (Buenos Aires) and by masters such as Anibal Arias, Rodolfo Mederos and Gustavo Beytelmann, Alejandro Schwarz studied not only tango style, but also harmony and counterpoint. Fascinated by tango's past, he never ceases to imagine the future of this music.
In 1996, he founded the El Arranque orchestra in the Argentinian capital, which toured extensively both nationally and internationally, and in 2001 was invited to play at Lincoln Center with Winton Marsalis. He went on to record two CDs with this ensemble, featuring his arrangements and compositions. In 2001, he moved to France. There, with the group Tiempo Sur, he accompanied the singer Julia Migenes (Cour d'honneur du Palais des Papes, Châtelet). In 2004, with bandoneonist Victor Villena, he founded the Quinteto El Después, which met with great success (tours of Europe and Japan, collaborations with singer Misia and cellist Henri Demarquette, recording of three CDs). This ensemble represents a milestone in his composing career.
A composer and arranger for his own projects, recognized in the tango world, he also develops intense collaborations with groups, solo musicians and singers from different musical universes, such as the Japanese diva Anna Saeki, with whom he has performed for 10 years in the most prestigious venues in Japan.
His compositions and arrangements, performed in many countries, have been presented at the Festival de Tango de Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Loch Shiel Spring Festival (Scotland), the Moritzburg Festival (Germany), and in the BBC Discovering music cycle, among others.
For him, tango is a living music in constant evolution, a material offering a multitude of possibilities that he explores in his creations.
In 2019, he meets Argentine baritone Armando Noguera, with whom he will perform in France's most prestigious opera houses with the show "Los Barguera".
In 2022, he joined the Belgium-based group SONICO on electric guitar, specializing in the recovery and dissemination of the work of Argentine composer Eduardo Rovira. It's a new adventure that will take him through numerous scenarios in Latin America and Europe.
