Caminito Tango Orchestra Information
This amateur tango orchestra has been running since 2017 and follows a similar model to tango orchestra escuelas (schools) in Buenos Aires. The orchestra learns famous pieces from celebrated tango orchestras and composers from the 1920s up to today. The project began after Caroline won a Winston Churchill Fellowship and went to Argentina for 2.5 months to do research on tango violin, take classes and perform with the Emilio Balcarce Orquesta Escuela. She came back and decided to start a project based on the same idea as a way of bringing hands-on experience of playing tango to people in the UK. There are numerous dance schools in the UK but no tango music schools - so this is the first one of its kind. It remains a genre that is ignored by music education schools and most festivals, but has so much to give and Caroline works tirelessly to increase access and awareness of this incredible music in the UK.
Caroline has studied and played Argentine tango with numerous amazing musicians. Here is a list of some of them to give you an idea of her tango background and teaching which she wishes to share and transmit with Creative Caminito. These musicians are mostly based in Paris (France) and/or Buenos Aires (Argentina): Juan Jose Mosalini, Gustavo Beytelmann, Victor Hugo Villena, William Sabatier, Amelitar Baltar, Osvaldo Calo, La Chicana, Daniel Melingo, Fleurs Noires, Silbando Orchestre, Orquesta Imperial, Ramiro Gallo, Leonardo Ferreyra, Juan Pablo Navarro, Diego Schissi, Guillermo Rubino, Tomas Gubitsch, Ignacio Varchausky, Debora Russ, Alejandro Schwarz, Jean-Baptiste Henry, Diego Aubia, Sandra Rumolino, Orquesta Escuela Emilio Balcarce, Eduardo Garcia, Mauricio Marcelli, José Colangelo, Alfonso Pacin, Gilberto Pereyra, Romain Lecuyer, Juanjo Mosalini, Hernan Possetti…
John has also studied and worked with several important tango musicians and these include Hernan Possetti, Diego Schissi, Eduardo Garcia, and the cellist Eduardo Vassallo who is based in the UK.
