Born in Argentina, son of pianist Evelina Aitala, Alfonso began his violin studies at a very early age at the Conservatorio Manuel de Falla. He soon became a member of the "Orquesta juvenil General San Martin" of the city of Buenos Aires and the "Orquesta sinfónica municipal de Olavarría".

In 1995, he was awarded a scholarship to continue his studies at Berklee College of Music, where he graduated Magna cum laude.
In 1999, invited to take a doctorate in philosophy and musicology at the Sorbonne, Alfonso settled in Paris, where he has developed an intense and recognized activity.
As a musician, Alfonso has toured the world's stages in the company of great Argentine and international popular music artists such as Tito Puentes, Quilapayún, Raúl Barboza, Mercedes Sosa and Stéphane Grapelli. He has been composer, arranger and performer with Trio La Tregua, Alter Quintet, and currently La Típica Folklórica.
Alfonso Pacín is also developing an intense teaching activity as arranger, composer and director of tango and traditional Argentine music orchestra-schools (OEMTA) in Paris, Toulouse and Marseille.
